ERwidowMiteN
Regular price $310.00This commanding pendant houses a genuine bronze Roman Widow's Mite coin, minted in the holy land over 2000 years ago, in the century preceding the birth of Jesus Christ.
One side of the coin depicts an anchor with Greek inscription (Alexander the King). The reverse side shows a star of eight rays, Yehonatan the King, written in Hebrew between the rays.
What makes these coins of great historical and religious importance is that twice in the bible, Jesus is quoted telling the story of the poor widow who gave all that she had which was just two mites. These coins are unique ancient artifact that would have been handled and used in market stalls by villagers, traders, holy men and Roman soldiers in every day transactions.
This cross hangs from a robust wheat chain with an oxidized finish, creating a distinguished patina.
