Classes

Jewelry Making Basics
3-hour class, 3-4 weeks, Prerequisites: None
Create wonderful, wearable jewelry using copper, silver, or other metals. Our weekly, month-long beginners class provides students with an introduction to the basic tools and techniques of metalsmithing including: the jeweler’s saw, hand and needle files, flex-shaft rotary tool, rolling mill, acetylene torch, and polishing motor. After 3-4 classes, students can expect to complete two basic projects: a textured sterling silver band ring or textured copper earrings and a cabochon cut stone ring or pendant. The skills learned in this class will include basic sawing/piercing, filing, basic soldering, and bezel setting a cabochon stone. Our small class size (max 8 students) ensures one-on-one instructor guidance.
We recommend that students purchase their class materials from the instructor, as we cannot guarantee the quality or functionality of third-party metals and stones. All experience levels welcome! Wear close-toe shoes.
