St. Clair Designs is a small company based in Woodland Park, CO, just west of Colorado Springs. All of their beautiful bags are crafted by the owner and a small team of home sewers in this charming mountain town. The founder’s passion for fabrics and color has resonated with a growing audience as the company continues to expand.
What sets St. Clair Designs' products apart is the endless variety of fabrics, featuring an artistic mix of patterns, colors, and textures. Rather than using large quantities of a single fabric, materials are sourced from a variety of places, including online retailers, local fabric stores during sales, and surplus from interior design manufacturers. This eclectic approach ensures that each bag is unique and visually striking. Designs undergo a meticulous testing process, incorporating changes like adding pockets or adjustable straps to enhance functionality. Each design is thoughtfully named, often honoring inspirational women or important individuals in the founder’s life—for instance, the “Barbie” is named after the founder’s mother, who is also an artist.
St. Clair Designs began selling its creations at high-end art and craft shows, as well as the Estes Park Wool Market, in 2010. Over time, the company has carefully expanded to include wholesale partnerships with boutiques, museum shops, and retail stores across the country. Despite its growth, the business remains small enough to accommodate custom orders on occasion.
