The Roman bronze coin "As" was a unit of currency during the Roman Republic and Empire. The Roman Mint was established at the Temple of a Roman God, Juno Moneta. The word “money” is derived from this god’s name. These mints relied on vast numbers of manual laborers. Since each coin had to be struck by hand, no two are identical. This bold sterling silver bracelet features a genuine silver Spanish 1/2 Real coin. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Spain became the premier supplier of gold and silver coins via their mining operations in the New World. These coins are known to collectors as "cobs," short for Cabo De Barra or cut from the end of the bar.

The front of the coin depicts a Jerusalem Cross, while the reverse features either the Hapsburgs or the Bourbons, the ruling families of Spain during this period.

This three-prong pendant houses a genuine bronze Roman Widow's Mite coin, minted in the holy land over 2000 years ago, in the century preceding the birth of Jesus Christ. 

One side of the coin depicts an anchor with Greek inscription (Alexander the King). The reverse side shows a star of eight rays, Yehonatan the King, written in Hebrew between the rays. 

What makes these coins of great historical and religious importance is that twice in the bible, Jesus is quoted telling the story of the poor widow who gave all that she had which was just two mites. This braided leather bracelet features a genuine silver Spanish 1/2 Real coin, minted in 1783 during the reign of Carlos III in then Spanish-controlled Mexico. While on a voyage from Vera Cruz to New Orleans the ship, El Cazador, sank in the Gulf of Mexico.

Had the ship successfully reached its original destination of New Orleans, the power dynamic and Spanish influence in North America would have been very different. The wreck essentially paved the way for US ownership of the Louisiana Purchase territory. After being lost for 200 years, the wreck and its enormous wealth of silver coins was discovered by fishermen and delicately salvaged.
