Herkimer Diamond Dragonfly Necklace

Herkimer diamonds (actually a form of quartz) are naturally faceted with 18 facets, and most have an iconic double-terminated shape. They were formed 500 million years ago and are only found in Herkimer County, New York. Though not diamonds, their clarity and flash make them quite beautiful.

Amy Kahn Russell is inspired by motifs and cultures she encountered while traveling abroad. Her work incorporates unusual artifacts, gemstones, minerals, pearls, and fossils, as well as gold and silver, into her dramatic jewelry.
